Plaisiodon centralis

 

Plaisiodon centralis is an extinct diprotodontid of subfamily Zygomaturinae, known from the late Miocene Alcoota Local Fauna in the Northern Territory of Australia. It lived alongside other diprotodontids including Kolopsis torus and Alkwertatherium webbi.

A palaeontologist excavates fossils in the bottom of a sandy excavation pit. There are excavation tools scattered around and lots of bones.
