The Diprotodontidae are an extinct family of large quadrupedal herbivorous marsupials that were endemic to Australia and New Guinea. They first appear in the late Oligocene, with the last remaining members becoming extinct in the late Pleistocene.
The family currently contains around 30 species, including the iconic Diprotodon optatum, the largest marsupial to ever have lived.
