Alkwertatherium webbi

Alkwertatherium webbi is an extinct diprotodontid belonging to the subfamily Zygomaturinae. It is the sole member of the genus Alkwertatherium. The species is known only from the 8-million-year-old late Miocene Alcoota Local Fauna from the Northern Territory of Australia.

A palaeontologist excavates fossils in a sandy excavation pit surrounded by dry grasses. It is an arid enviroment.
