About

VAMP is a collaboration between Australian universities and museums, which aims to answer one of the biggest questions in modern palaeontology – how do we share all this 3D data?!

The VAMP portal is a one-stop shop where researchers, museums, educators and members of the public can access rotatable, downloadable, high-resolution 3D scans of Australian fossils, from early animal life to megafauna.

Led by Flinders University, we are partnered by the South Australian Museum (SAM), Western Australian Museum (WAM), and Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT). All of the scans viewable on this site are registered specimens housed in those institutions. However, we welcome inquiries from new potential partners.

Scan data is hosted on MorphoSource. Scans can be viewed on the VAMP website, and downloaded from MorphoSource in accordance with the specified permissions.
