Dromornithid footprints

The dromornithids were the largest birds to walk the Australian continent and some of the largest birds ever to have lived. An amazing tracksite near Kati Thanda – Lake Eyre preserves the footprints of hundreds of individuals as they wandered a drying lake 25 million years ago whilst the fossil sand dunes of the southern coast preserve the wanderings of Genyornis newtoni.
