The purpose of the HOME Rehab Trial is to investigate whether one type of occupational therapy assessment (in-hospital or at home), is better than the other for improving recovery in patients after a stroke. The trial is looking at whether there are differences post-discharge in participation in daily activities, as well as rates of readmission to hospital.

The HOME Rehab Trial is a 4-year study, funded by NHMRC and administered by Monash University. A total of 360 patients will be recruited over a 3-year period commencing in 2018. Participants will be recruited from rehabilitation sites across Australia. South Australian sites include Flinders Medical Centre, Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre and Modbury Hospital.

The results of this trial will help shape future practices in stroke rehabilitation.
