Autonomous Surface Vessel (ASV) technology offers a new approach and ability to provide a cost effective maritime monitoring and data collection, and creates new opportunities to work in hazardous or protected environments. This project is called TopCat Autonomous Surface Vessel. TopCat is an ASV developed by the Centre for Maritime, Control, and Imaging at Flinders University. It is a highly capable research and data collection platform that aims to demonstrate the potential for autonomy in marine environments.
