About RISE

We are passionate about inclusion and committed to informing and enhancing inclusive classrooms, schools, and communities so that diverse children and young people can thrive.

Our research addresses all facets of inclusive education within multi-tiered systems of support, including:

  • evidence-based ‘universal’ practices to promote academic achievement, positive behaviour and wellbeing for all students

  • more intensive, targeted supports for students at-risk or experiencing difficulties, when and how it is needed

  • personalised programming for students with more complex, specialised needs

We are interested in local, state, national and international collaboration for research related to diversity, inclusion, and the education of diverse students.

  • preparing and supporting teachers to educate students with diverse learning needs in inclusive settings

  • designing and differentiating curriculum for students with diverse learning needs

  • educational program design and evaluation

  • evidence-based teaching of reading, including intervention for students experiencing reading difficulties

  • education related to children and young people with learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism, intellectual disability, complex communication needs, behavioural difficulties, and specific learning disabilities

  • positive behaviour support, including whole-school approaches and personalised behaviour assessment and planning

  • gifted education and academic talent development

  • augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)

  • social and emotional development and mental health, including mental health and wellbeing for students with disabilities
