This stimulating two-day workshop was co-convened by Dr Agnieszka Sobocinska (Monash University), Professor Melanie Oppenheimer (Flinders University), and Professor David Lowe (Deakin University).<\/p>\n

The workshop was framed around two key objectives:<\/p>\n

  1. To identify and analyse specific ‘cultures’ of humanitarianism and international development and trace them across time and space.<\/li>\n
  2. \u00a0To explore and critically examine innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to the history of foreign aid.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Professor Melanie Oppenheimer presented a paper titled: ‘Resilient Humanitarianism? The League of Red Cross Societies.’<\/p>\n
