Many themes are discussed in this talk, based on the author&#8217;s ongoing research on children&#8217;s rights in Ethiopia: contributions of Ethiopia to the whole Red Cross movement; the many precedents set by Ethiopia &#8211; for decades &#8211; for the history of the whole Red Cross movement in Africa; the tensions between the national and the international movements; the changing and prolonged relations with Russia and the Soviet Union; international famine relief during the Cold War; religion and aid, as well as Red Cross interventions in civil wars.&#8217;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To listen to the presentation by Professor Marshall, <a href=\"https:\/\/biblio.uottawa.ca\/omeka1\/recipro\/items\/show\/287\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This presentation is part of the Shared Online Projects Initiative from the <a href=\"https:\/\/uottawa.ca\/\">University of Ottawa<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/carleton.ca\/\">Carleton University.<\/a> Through this Initiative, researchers, professors, and students have collaborated to promote digital humanities and contribute online material in the fields of international and humanitarian aid.
