INSPIRED is the first Australian study to measure quality of life, medications, resource use and costs in a home-like, clustered domestic model of care compared to a more standard model of care. The cost of providing these two models was compared, as well as resident outcomes including quality of life, consumer rated quality of care, number of hospitalisations, and number of potentially inappropriate medications prescribed.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YhU4mVm5xQ”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C20Equ63sYk”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Summaries for industry

Potentially inappropriate medications in residential aged care (PDF 2MB)

Use of psychotropic medications in residential aged care (PDF 792KB)

Cluster models of residential aged care are associated with fewer hospitalisations and better quality of life (PDF 1MB)[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Publications

Alternative models of residential care media content:

Aged Care Insite news and interview with Professor Maria Crotty and Dr Suzanne Dyer

Hammond Care news and interview with Dr Suzanne Dyer

Flinders University news and interview with Professor Maria Crotty and Dr Suzanne Dyer

The Conversation news- Caring for elderly Australians in a home-like setting can reduce hospital visits

Clustered domestic residential aged care in Australia: fewer hospitalisations and a better quality of life
Dyer SM, Liu E, Gnanamanickam ES, Milte R, Easton T, Harrison SL, Bradley C, Ratcliffe J, Crotty M (2018).
