Notes for Dr. Morley: This page will also continue to be updated as new people are added but I need your approved list of people to add to the page as Collaborators and either permission to contact them asking for a bio – or to just use information off their own university pages to write one. – I also need a picture of you for your own bio below

Where in the world is #Disperscapes?

Staff

ARC Future Fellow (Project Leader)
Dr. Mike Morley

Dr. Mike Morley is a geoarchaeologist and Quaternary scientist with two decades experience working in academic and commercial environments. An expert in the field, Dr. Morley has published geoarchaeological research from some of Southeast Asia’s most important sites, both in terms of understanding modern human presence in the region, and the environmental backdrop against which this colonisation process took place. He has also held senior roles in consultancy archaeology, project-managing major archaeological mitigation projects in the UK, with the Museum of London Archaeology Service [MoLAS] and Oxford Archaeology Unit [OAU]. Since 2008 he has been the lead geoarchaeologist roles on a number of multi-disciplinary archaeological projects across Europe, Asia and South Africa: ARC Laureate Project, Eastern Eurasia (Univ. Wollongong [UOW]); TAAP Project, Vietnam (Univ. Cambridge); AMEMSA Project, South Africa & Lesotho (Univ. Michigan & Univ. Toronto); Metolong Dam Project, Lesotho (Univ. Oxford); Nisava Prehistory Project, Balkans (Univ. Michigan & Univ. Belgrade), and in doing so has accrued a wealth of specialist knowledge and technical skills, spread across a range of interconnecting disciplines, including archaeology, geology and geomorphology.

PhD Researcher
Vito Hernandez

Vito earned his Master of Science in Archaeology from the University of the Philippines. He wrote a geoarchaeology-focused thesis, has relevant training in Quaternary science and micromorphology, and excavation experience on Southeast Asian and European sites. He is currently a Flinders International Postgraduate Research Scholar pursuing a PhD under the primary supervision of DISPERSCAPES Project Leader Associate Professor Mike Morley and secondary supervision of Dr Martin Polkinghorne. Apart from Archaeology, Vito is passionate about family, Philippine coffees, craft beers, and his dog Twenty.

PhD Researcher
Meghan McAllister

It was in my final year of my undergraduate degree at Queen’s University, Belfast that I became immersed in Southeast Asia. As an undergraduate researcher on the SUNDASIA Project, focused within the Trang An Landscape Complex, Vietnam, I undertook the application of magnetic susceptibility of cave sediments to further expand the paleoenvironmental proxies available to understand the influences of palaeomonsoon. Now, as a PhD candidate on Disperscapes, I hope to employ stable isotope analysis to sites within Southeast Asia to examine the local palaeoenvironmental parameters of each site. This I hope, will shed light on how environmental conditions may have influenced early modern humans settlement and subsistence strategies as they undertook their pioneering travels from their origins in Africa.

PhD Researcher
Natasha Nagle

Natasha Nagle is a PhD researcher in the Disperscapes Project run by ARC Future Fellow Dr. Mike Morley. She has an MPhil in Archaeology (Archaeological Science track) from the University of Cambridge, along with a BS in Geosciences, BAs in Anthropology and Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies, and minors in International Studies, History, and Jewish Studies from the Penn State. Her masters thesis and interdisciplinary honors (undergrad) thesis specialized in siliceous lithic provenance by micromorphology and chemical analysis. A published author, she is also trained in SEM, EDX, pXRF, XRD, RTI, R, and GIS, and is learning Modern Greek. She is extremely interested in science communication, outreach, and the intersection between the sciences and humanities, and always tries to find creative new ways to get others interested in the sciences and research. You can contact her at nagl0009@flinders.edu.au.
